As of today, January 29, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have mostly remained unchanged in the local currency with minor changes in US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, while falling by TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) in the Iskenderun region due to aggressive pricing policies. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,400-29,100/mt ($545-558/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 43.42.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş' prices, have settled at $550-570/mt ex-works, stable over the same period, while acceptable prices have settled at $545-560/mt ex-works, also unchanged over the same period.
One Iskenderun-based mill has set its official rebar price today at TRY 28,500/mt ($547/mt), indicating another decrease of TRY 250/mt ($5/mt) compared to January 27. Another Iskenderun-based mill has kept its official rebar price at TRY 29,000/mt ($557/mt) ex-works today. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 28,300-28,600/mt ($543-549/mt) ex-warehouse, down TRY 200/mt ($4/mt) over the same period.
