Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices trend up

Over the past week, most Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have increased their official equal angle export prices by $10/mt on the higher end to $610-630/mt FOB amid costlier import billet, for late August-early September shipment. A few merchant bar producers are still applying aggressive pricing policies in order to generate sales and are offering close to the lower end of the abovementioned price range.

The removal of 15 percent country-cap under EU quotas for angles, shapes and sections of iron or non-alloy steel (Category 17), which includes I, U and H profiles with width of over 80 mm will take effect today and might positively impact Turkish export segment. In addition, a few enquiries are on the table from Latin America and North Africa, SteelOrbis has heard.

The SteelOrbis Turkish import billet daily reference price stands at $465-500/mt, stable week on week.

Product Price ($/mt)
Angle 610-630
IPN-UPN 620-640
Flat bar 640-660
IPE 620-640

All prices are on FOB basis for late August-Early September shipment.
