Turkish merchant bar producers have mostly raised their official domestic merchant bar prices by TRY 400-500/mt ($7-10/mt) amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and higher production costs, in particular the higher prices of import scrap, billet and energy.
One Iskenderun-based mill issued its equal angle price at TRY 28,400/mt ($637/mt) ex-works earlier today, April 7. It indicates no change in the local currency, while falling by only $2/mt on US dollar basis.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for deliveries in late April-early May or from stocks, depending on the size.
Some local buyers are postponing their purchases due to the unclear financial situation in the country.
