Rebar and wire rod producers in Algeria have made small adjustments to their local prices, partly aiming to offset currency fluctuations and to keep the US dollar equivalent prices at a certain level.
Tosyali Algerie has added DZD 250/mt to its prices since early February to DZD 65,250/mt ex-works for rebar and DZD 73,250/mt ex-works for wire rod. In reality, the producer’s offers have inched up by only $1/mt to $498/mt and $512/mt, respectively, both on ex-works basis.
Algerian Qatari Steel, another large local producer, has made price adjustments earlier this month, but only in the rebar segment. Supplier dropped its offers by $10/mt (DZD 1,250/mt) to $498/mt (DZD 65,250/mt) ex-works. Wire rod prices from AQS have remained stable for now at $533/mt (DZD 76,250/mt) ex-works but could be revised shortly, SteelOrbis understands.
Prices on US dollar basis exclude nine percent and 19 percent VAT for rebar and wire rod, respectively.
