US import HDG prices stabilize after last week’s uptick

Last week, SteelOrbis confirmed that spot market prices for US import HDG and Galvalume coil had firmed, as expected, and this week prices have once again stabilized.

However, it should be noted that offshore 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 continues to be priced higher than domestic material of that same grade. As such, US-based buyers are still reluctant to book significant tonnage offshore, especially because it’s uncertain whether higher US prices will be sustainable, based on current market conditions.

This week’s pricing is listed in the chart below.

0.012” G30 HDG coil $/cwt $/mt $/nt Weekly change Delivery
South Africa / UAE/ Vietnam / Korea $47-$48 $1,036-$1,058/mt $940-$960/nt neutral DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports

Galvalume coil  0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55
Vietnam / Korea $46-$50  $1,014-$1,102/mt $920-$1,000/nt neutral DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports
