During the week ending April 18, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued their upward trend. Transaction activity in the overall market has been at decent levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the tables below.
During the given week, inventory levels of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have declined and supply has remained on the short side, exerting a positive impact on steel plate prices. Since semi-finished steel prices have also increased, plate production costs have risen, providing further support for steel plate prices in the spot market. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market may rise further in the coming week, though the possibility of a downward correction is not excluded given the significant price increases already recorded.
