The reference price for Brazilian exports of Galvalume remains at $850/mt, FOB conditions for the AZ-150 product, the same price compared to last week.
In February, Brazil exported a mere 500 mt of Galvalume and similar aluminum-zinc coated products, while importing 12,000 mt of the product. This compares with 7,750 mt and 22,300 mt, respectively, in January.
Sources tell SteelOrbis that local production of Galvalume is currently earmarked to supply the domestic market, due to the intense demand from the civil construction industry, resulting in a low volume available for exports and higher volume of imports
ArcelorMittal exported in February 300 mt of Galvalume at $732/mt, while independent producers exported 200 mt at $895/mt, both FOB conditions and different quality grades.
With the exception of a small volume shipped to Luxembourg, Brazilian Galvalume exports in February were destined to South American countries, while all the imports came from China, on average at $697/mt, FOB conditions.
The last offer of Galvalume received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $780/mt, against $790/mt two weeks ago, CFR conditions to a port in the South or Southeastern coast.
