The reference price for the export of Galvalume remains currently at $860/mt, CFR for sales to countries in Europe, AZ-150 grade product, the same over the last four weeks.
Sources tell SteelOrbis that few export deals are currently being closed for Galvalume, as the product remains scarce in Brazil, with imports of Galvalume exceeding its exports.
Fresh numbers from customs authorities indicate that in December, Brazilian exports of Galvalume were limited to a mere 240 mt, shipped by ArcelorMittal to South American countries at $750/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in October.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in December 15,100 mt of Galvalume, of which 15,000 mt from China, in average at $688/mt, FOB conditions. From the total imported, 4,700 mt were destined to states in the north and northeast regions; due to logistics hurdles to move material from producers in the southeast, China is typically a more reliable a origin. CSN and ArcelorMittal are the sole steel companies authorized by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil.
The last offer of Galvalume received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $780/mt, against $770/mt two weeks ago, both CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeastern coast.
