A market source in Brazil told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of Galvalume remains at $850/mt, FOB conditions for the AZ-150 product, stable over the last four weeks.
Sources say there are few offers available for export due to limited supply, as a result of different stages of refurbishment of blast furnaces at local steel producers. The situation is frustrating expectations of higher volumes exported during July, which were limited to mere 500 mt, of which 400 mt at $782/mt to the Dominican Republic and 100 mt at $726/mt to Luxembourg, both FOB from ArcelorMittal, with different quality grades and price deals probably closed in May.
Idled blast furnaces at CSN and ArcelorMittal are set for restart in September 2019 and in the second half of 2020, respectively. ArcelorMittal and CSN are the two companies authorized by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in July 20,100 mt of Galvalume from China at $710/mt and 200 mt from India at $738/mt, both FOB conditions.
