Positive mood in Turkey’s tinplate market

Sufficient demand from the end-user side and the booming pricing in the hot-rolled and cold rolled coil markets in Turkey have resulted in a rather positive mood in the tinplate segment. As a result, the customers have started to accept the earlier-announced higher offers from the re-rollers.

According to sources, deals for 0.3 mm TS275 2.8g/2.8m2 material have been closed this week at $1,250/mt ex-works for June production. Another producer is in the market to sell for May deliveries at $1,220-1,230/mt ex-works, similar to last week’s levels. “Flats are generally positive these days, but we can say that the same CRC is overpriced in Turkey as compared to tinplate,” a trader told SteelOrbis.

As was reported earlier, current local CRC prices in Turkey are at $1,150-1,180/mt ex-works, up by $30-60/mt over the past week.
