Demand in the local Turkish pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil market has continued to be characterized by sluggishness in the past week, while prices have remained stable due to slack demand and due to the sideways trend of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices. Accordingly, Turkish mills' local prices for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are at $850-915/mt, while their offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $700-780/mt and prices for 1 mm RAL 9002 are at $600-665/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis, exclude 18 percent VAT, and are for April, May and June production, depending on producers’ capacity.

Meanwhile, Turkish PPGI export prices have also moved sideways during the past week in the range of $700-735/mt FOB for April production, while demand for Turkish PPGI exports has remained slack since buyers consider the prices to be on the high side. Meanwhile, Turkey’s Ministry of Economy has announced that it has terminated the antidumping (AD) duty investigation  on hot rolled flat steel imports from seven countries, upon the withdrawal of the application made by three Turkish steelmakers. Accordingly, Turkish re-rollers are expected to find it easier to import HRC in the coming period.
