Local Turkish HRC market remains sluggish

Over the past week, buyers of domestic producers’ products in the local Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) market have not been in any hurry to start booking ahead of the end-of-Ramadan holiday and demand has remained sluggish. Due to the declines in global prices of iron ore and coking coal and the fluctuations in global flat steel prices, buyers are waiting to gain a clearer picture of the trend of global HRC prices before they start buying. Meanwhile, Turkish producers’ local HRC prices still stand at $500-520/mt ex-works.

In the domestic spot market, inventories have remained at low levels, while demand has continued to be weak, and so traders’ spot prices have remained unchanged.
