Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC for export to South American countries in price range of $580/mt to $600/mt, against a range of $530/mt to $560/mt last week, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

The source mentioned that a combination of factors, including production costs, is driving prices in an uptrend that is likely to result in more price increases in the short term.

Preliminary numbers from the country’s customs authorities point to a 30 percent decline in February from the 86,400 mt of HRC exported from Brazil in January.
