The reference price for Brazilian slab exports is now $575 a metric ton (mt), against $570/mt last week, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.
The price remains in line with the levels last seen in June 2024, remaining in uptrend since $455/mt was achieved in October 2025.
Analysts report that the present devaluation of the USD against the Brazilian Real (BRL) persists, accompanied by disruptions in maritime transportation resulting from the conflict in the Middle East. Nonetheless, shipments originating from Brazil to the United States, Europe, and Asia continue to operate without interruption due to the ongoing situation.
Under such scenario, perspectives are maintained for small increases and periods of stability for the Brazilian slabs export price over the next month.
Data obtained from the first three weeks of March by Secex, Brazil's Foreign Trade Secretariat within the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, indicate that the country's slab exports for March are expected to conclude with volumes lower than the 794,200 metric tons exported in February.
