The first slab export deals for shipment in September were reportedly closed by Brazilian exporters at $600/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.

According to local sources, this price is the same closed for the last deals for shipments in August.

The price for the first shipments of August were reportedly closed at $670/mt.

For the shipments in May, the average FOB price, including different quality grades, was on average $810/mt, with price deals probably closed in March.

The exporters maintain positive expectations in relation to prices, due to increased demand for slabs of both API grade and basic commercial grades.

Preliminary numbers of June are now indicating that the Brazilian slabs volumes of exports should be lower than in May, while two imports, of 30,000 mt and 20,000 mt, were so far registered in the month by customs.
