Baosteel issues flat steel prices for May deliveries

Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its prices for carbon steel flat products for May deliveries. The details are as follows (comparisons are with April prices unless otherwise specified):
 
1.  Hot rolled coil (HRC):
Prices of products produced by Baosteel's main steel production base are unchanged.
 
2.  Hot rolled pickled products:
Prices of products produced by the main steel production base and by subsidiary Shanghai Meishan Co. are unchanged
 
3.  Cold rolled (CR) products:
I) Prices of products from Baosteel's main steel production base are unchanged. 
II) Products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are RMB 200/mt ($31/mt) lower in price than products from the main steel base.
 III) Prices of welding quality wire rods and welded steel pipes - single layer welded pipe and double layer welded pipe - and flux cored welding wire for May-June are unchanged from prices for March-April.
 
4.  Hot dip galvanized (HDG):
 I) Main steel base products are unchanged.
 II) Products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are also unchanged.
 
5. Electro-galvanized (EG) product prices are unchanged.
 
6. Galvalume:
I) Prices of products from the main steel base are down by RMB 200/mt ($31/mt).
II) Prices of products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are RMB 50/mt ($7/mt) lower than prices of products from the main steel production base.
 
7. Coated product prices for May-June are unchanged as compared to prices for March-April.
 
8. Non-grain-oriented (NGO) electrical steel has decreased in price by RMB 200/mt ($31/mt).
 
All the above price changes are effective from April 11, 2012 and exclude 17 percent VAT
