Baosteel issues flat steel prices for January deliveries

Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its prices for carbon steel flat products for January deliveries. The details are as follows (comparisons are with December prices):
 
1.    Hot rolled coil (HRC):
Prices of products produced by Baosteel's main steel production base and by its stainless steel division are unchanged
 
2. Hot rolled pickled products:
I) Prices of products produced by the main steel production base and by subsidiary Shanghai Meishan Co. are unchanged.
II) Prices of products from the stainless steel division are RMB 50/mt ($7/mt) lower than prices of products from the main steel base.
 
3. Cold rolled (CR) products:
I) Prices of products from the main steel base are up by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt).
II) Prices of products from Baosteel's stainless steel division are RMB 100/mt ($15/mt) lower than prices of products from Baosteel's main steel base.
III) Products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are RMB 200/mt ($31/mt) lower in price than products from the main steel base.
IV) Prices of single-layer welded steel pipes, double-layer welded steel pipes and flux-cored welding wires for January-February are unchanged as compared to prices for December. 
 
4. Hot dip galvanized (HDG):
I) Main steel base products: the prices of SEDDQ grade and all cold rolled high-strength steel except S series structural steel are down by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt),  while prices of all other products are unchanged.
II) Products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are unchanged.
 
5. Electro-galvanized (EG) products: prices of CQ grade and DQ grade are up by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt), while prices of all other products have increased by RMB 200/mt ($31/mt).
 
6. Galvalume:
I) Prices of products from the main steel base are unchanged.
II) Prices of products from Baosteel Group Shanghai Meishan Co. are RMB 50/mt ($7/mt) lower than prices of products from the main steel base.
 
7. Coated products (January-February): prices are unchanged.
 
8. Non-grain-oriented (NGO) electrical steel: prices are unchanged.
 
9. Grain-oriented electrical steel: prices are up by RMB 200/mt ($31/mt).
 
10. Hot rolled plate (HRP) prices are unchanged.
 
All the above price changes are effective from December 12, 2011 and exclude 17 percent VAT
