Zaporizhstal raises production
According to preliminary data, Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal increased finished steel production 3.9 percent, crude steel production 2.1 percent, pig iron production 0.1 percent, but decreased the production of agglomerate 0.5 percent year on year to 2.4 million metric tons, to 3 million metric tons, to 2.4 million metric tons and to 3.7 million metric tons respectively in January-August of 2006. In August of 2006, the plant produced 312,000 metric tons of finished steel products, 388,000 metric tons of crude steel, 317,000 metric tons of pig iron and 495,000 metric tons of agglomerate.
