On October 25, Wuyang Iron and Steel Co. carried out successful hot run tests on its No. 3 continuous caster.
The new 300 × 2,500 mm continuous caster was designed and manufactured domestically following the launch of Wuyang's No. 2 continuous caster, and can produce continuous-cast billets of 200 mm, 250 mm and 300 mm in thickness.
A total investment of RMB 500 million was involved in the project for the new continuous caster. Construction commenced on December 1, 2007, and was completed in the current month of October.
