Local news reports indicate that around a dozen steelworkers have gone on strike at Portage, Indiana-based service center Neo Industries, in protest of a proposal to lay off 10 union truck drivers.

United Steelworkers Local 2003 said they are willing to make concessions to save the jobs, but negotiations with the company, which primarily applies chrome plating to steel coils, have stalled.

“It's a very unfortunate situation,” said Neo Industries president Kevin Walsh. “It's not affecting operations, and we're fulfilling our commitments.”

Union workers walked off the job Friday, and the union filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board on Monday alleging that the company has not only negotiated in bad faith, but has not provided the union with accurate financial information.
