Although offer prices for US import rebar have not moved in the last week, sources tell SteelOrbis that inquires into new Middle Eastern offers are picking up. Prices are reportedly on par with Egyptian offers, and despite the higher freight costs, buyers in the US remain interested, although there has not been a surge in actual bookings yet.

Offers from Egypt remain in the range of $37.00-$38.00 cwt. ($816-$838/mt or $740-$760/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, unchanged in the last week, while offers from Mexico are similarly stable at $38.00-$39.00 cwt. ($838-$860/mt or $760-$780/nt) DDP Houston.
