Shanghai Electric Group has announced that its 20 MW ultra high-speed explosion-proof inverter-type electric motor has been approved by Chinese certification authorities. This is the first such product produced in
China. Domestic steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. (
WISCO) supplied high grade non-grain-oriented (NGO) silicon steel for the manufacture of the new motor.
The largest 700 MW hydro-generator of
China, which was commissioned in May, was also made from the silicon steel of
WISCO.
