Vietnam’s steel output and sales fall in H1

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in June this year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.01 million mt, decreasing by 9.52 percent compared to the previous month and down by 16.2 percent compared to June 2022, while the country’s steel product sales in the same month decreased by 6.41 percent compared to May and fell by four percent year on year to 2.16 million mt.

In the January-June period, steel production in Vietnam decreased by 20.9 percent year on year to 13.1 million mt, while the country’s steel sales fell by 17.5 percent year on year to 12.48 million mt.

Meanwhile, in May this year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel decreased by 18.92 percent compared to the previous month and were down by 35.54 percent year on year to 837,000 mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 1.13 million mt, up by 16.43 percent month on month and by 52.6 percent year on year.
