Vietnamese Ministry of Planning & Investment (MPI) indicated that coal exports in 2006 should remain unchanged at 14 million metric tons; however exports should be lowered to 8 million metric tons by 2010. In Jan-November 2005 period, Vietnam is forecasted to have exported 15 million tons of coal valued at $571 million, up 44.6 percent in volume against 2004, and 82 percent in value against 2004.
