Venezuelan state-run steelmaker Sidor hasn’t produced steel thus far in 2019, according to media reports. As for the first five months of 2019, from January to May, the state-run steelmaker produced no steel.

Venezuela faces a steep political and economic crisis, which led to growing inflation and the halt of several industrial sectors. A recent industry report by ConIndustria, a local industry association, said Venezuela’s industrial sector is currently operating at 18 percent its capacity as of Q1.

Sidor reportedly produced 80,000 mt of crude steel in 2018, according to a media report.
