According to a media reports, since Venezuela-state run HBI producer Briquetera del Caroni (Briqcar) commenced operations February 20, the company has produced 17,000 mt of HBI so far, with an average daily production of 1,800 mt.

The company invested $4 million in the plant, and an executive told local media that partnerships with other state-run producers, including local steelmaker Sidor and iron ore producer Ferrominera Orinoco, are providing Briqcar with enough raw materials to supply HBI to state-owned steelmaker Complejo Siderurgico Nacional (CSN).
