Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale said on Monday it has resumed operations at its Teluk Rubiah Maritime Terminal (TRMT) as of May 16.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, Vale halted activities at the Malaysian distribution center on March 24 due to its incapacity to guarantee “minimum resources” to operate the terminal amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vale said the provisional shutdown of the TRMT didn’t alter the company’s 310-330 million mt/year production guidance for 2020. However, resuming the distribution center increases its operational flexibility, while also strengthening its supply chain.

TRMT shipped 23.7 million mt of iron ore in 2019.
