Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale said this week its board has approved to create new committees for audits and compliance.

The audits committee will advise Vale’s board and help it oversee internal audit activities, as well as Vale’s earnings documents. The company named Isabella Albuquerque and Luciana Dias as members of the audits committee. A third member is yet to be appointed.

Additionally, Vale said it would create a compliance department and soon appoint a chief compliance officer.

Vale’s decision to create a new compliance role and audits committee is a result of the deadly Brumadinho dam break, which killed 259 people.
