Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale is reportedly seeking to use 100 percent renewable energy to run its operations, a media report by Reuters citing an unnamed source said.

Vale supplies 60 percent of its energy needs through its renewable sources in power plants in which it has a stake.

The source said the remaining 40 percent energy supply would come from wind and solar. Energy accounted for 4.6 percent Vale’s total cost of products sold in 2017. Vale could also close long-term contracts to buy wind and solar energy.
