US rig count moves back upward while Canadian count vacillates

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 7 the US rig count increased by 10 to 884, after a two-rig decrease the previous week. The gas rig count increased by four to 213, whereas the oil rig count increased by six to 670. The overall rig count is still down by 1,024 from 1,908 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by seven in the week ending August 7 to 208, after a 15-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 179 from 387 rigs during the same week a year ago.
