US weekly raw steel production continues to climb

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production increased by 2.3 percent last week, following a 1.7 percent rise the week prior.

Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,746,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 2.3 percent increase from the 1,707,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 3.5 percent decrease from the 1,809,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 70.7 percent in the week ending November 10, compared to 69.1 percent in the previous week and 73.0 percent in the same week last year.
