US steel output falls from last week-Feb 26, 2005

US domestic crude steel production for the week ending February 26, 2005, was 2.004 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 88.5%. Last year's production during the same period was 2.12 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 94%. The past week's production represents a 5.5% year-on-year decrease. Production for the week ending February 26, 2005, was down 1.4% from the previous week, when production was 2.03 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 89.7%. Year-to-date production through February 26, 2005, was 16.69 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 90.5%. That is 2% increase from the 16.36 million net tons during the same period last year.
