US rig count rises while Canadian count drops

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 10 the US rig count increased by eight to 1,930, following nine-rig decrease the week before. The gas rig count dropped by 10 to 320, whereas the oil rig count increased by 18 to 1,609. The overall rig count is still up by 187 from 1,743 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 10 in the week ending October 10 to reach 420 following a one-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 63 from 357 rigs during the same week a year ago.
