US rig count drops again while Canadian count continues uptrend

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 22 the US rotary rig count decreased by one to 935 rigs following an eight-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 190 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by five to 744. The overall rig count is now up by 424 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by eight to 220 rigs in the week ending September 22, following a 10-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 82 rigs from the same week a year ago.
