US rig count decreases while Canada’s increases week-on-week

According to the Baker Hughes survey for the week-ended June 15, The US rig count, which includes oil and natural-gas rigs, has decreased by 3 to 1,059 while Canada’s rig count has increased by 27 to 139. Compared to the same period last year, the rig count for the US is presently 126 higher while the rig count a year ago for Canada it is 20 lower.

The active oil rig count gained 1 for the second straight week to 863, extending a multiyear high, but gas rigs fell 4 to 194; two rigs remained classified as miscellaneous. The highest oil rig count of 866 was achieved in March 2015.
