US raw steel production up 1.6 percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on February 18, 2017, US domestic raw steel production was 1,766,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 74.6 percent.
 
Production was 1,709,000 net tons in the week ending February 18, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 73.1 percent. The current week production represents a 3.3 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
 
Production for the week ending February 18, 2017 is up 1.6 percent from the previous week ending February 11, 2017 when production was 1,738,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 73.4 percent.
 
Adjusted year-to-date production through February 18, 2017 was 12,066,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.7 percent. That is up 4.8 percent from the 11,512,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.8 percent.
