US OCTG imports surge 84 percent in October

According to the latest census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 138,100 mt in October, up 84 percent from September and up 101.4 percent from October 2015 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $119 million in October 2016, compared to $78.6 million the previous month and $89.9 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in October, with 50,837 mt, up significantly compared to 12,689 mt in September and 7,751 mt in October 2015. Other top sources of imported OCTG in October include Mexico, with 29,988 mt; Argentina, with 16,230 mt; Russia, with 12,604 mt; and Turkey, with 6,023 mt.
