US line pipe imports drop 9.5 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 226,940 mt in October 2017, down 9.5 percent from September but up 154.7 percent from October 2016 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $207.7 million in October 2017, compared to $225.0 million in the previous month and $69.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in October, with 82,438 mt, compared to 78,286 mt in September and 44,769 mt in October 2016. Other top sources of imported line pipe in October include India, with 48,361 mt; Mexico, with 17,597 mt; Germany, with 15,040 mt; Brazil, with 12,255 mt; and Canada, with 11,421 mt.
