The US International Trade Commission has announced that it has initiated antidumping (AD) investigation into imports of tin mill products from China, Taiwan and Turkey, and countervailing duty (CVD) investigation into imports of the given products from China, following a petition filed by domestic industry stakeholders.
The investigations, which will assess allegations that imports are being sold at less than fair value and, in the case of China, that they benefit from government subsidies, aim to determine whether imports of the subject products are causing or threatening material injury to the US industry.
The petition was submitted on April 9, 2026, by United States Steel Corporation and the United Steelworkers union.
The commission will reach a preliminary determination within 45 days of the filing, setting a deadline of May 26, 2026, unless extended. Its findings will be transmitted to the US Department of Commerce by June 2, 2026.
The products subject to the investigations are currently classifiable in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) under subheadings 7210.11.00, 7210.12.00, 7210.50.00, 7212.10.00, 7212.50.00, 7225.99.00, and 7226.99.01.
