US ITC investigates effectiveness of trade relief on wire rod imports
The International Trade Commission (ITC) is initiating an investigation in order to determine the impacts of the trade relief applied on certain steel
wire rod imports that expired on March 1, 2003. The aim of the investigation is to evaluate the effectiveness of the action applied for 3 years in facilitating positive adjustment by the domestic industry to import competition.
ITC is required to submit the evaluation report to the US President and the Congress within 180 days after the termination date of the trade relief.
The trade relief was implemented in March 2000, to remain in force for 3 years and expired on March 1, 2003.
Under the framework of the evaluation, those who wish to participate in the investigation are required to apply within fourteen days after the notice. A hearing in this respect is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2003.
