US DOJ asks Mittal to sell its Sparrows Point facility

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has asked Arcelor Mittal to divest itself of its Sparrows Point facility in order to comply with anti-trust regulations. This requirement means that Dofasco's integration with Arcelor-Mittal can proceed. Commenting on the issue, Jacques Chabanier, Dofasco President and CEO, said, "Proceeding with the integration of Dofasco and Arcelor Mittal will allow Dofasco to benefit from being part of a larger North American business and a global leader.” This divestiture aims at removing competition concerns arising from Mittal's merger with Arcelor.
