US Department of Defense announces latest contract awards

On October 13 the United States Department of Defense released a list of over 30 contract awards granted to new developments and construction projects all over the country; recipients included several steel-related companies. 

Newburgh, New York-based Steel Style, Inc. was awarded an $8,951,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of the final engineering design and construction services for one inland waters non-self propelled welded steel crane barge conforming to commercial standards.  Work is to be performed in Newburgh, N.Y., with an estimated completion date of March 31, 2012. 

Beckering Advisoring, Inc., based in Grand Rapids, Michigan was awarded a $8,851,090 firm-fixed-price contract.  The scope of the work encompasses two buildings and site work at the buildings.  Buildings 6922 and 6923 require extensive renovation to the existing structure and large additions to be built and electrical, mechanical and communications systems will be completely removed and upgraded.  Work is to be performed in Battle Creek, Michigan with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2012. 

Morgan City, Louisiana-based Conrad Industries, Inc., was awarded a $5,973,596 firm-fixed-price contract to provide necessary marine services to construct, test and deliver two new welded steel deck cargo barges for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District.  Work is to be performed in Morgan City, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 1, 2011. 

Korte Construction Company based in St. Louis, Missouri was awarded a $15,312,983 firm-fixed-price contract to design and construct a troop and family medical clinic.  Work is to be performed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with an estimated completion date of April 27, 2012. 

Anchorage, Alaska-based Bristol Design Build Services, LLC, was awarded a $13,375,242 firm-fixed-price construction contract to design and construct a BioMass boiler and associated facilities.  Work is to be performed in Chillicothe, Ohio, with an estimated completion date of March 13, 2012.
