US cold finished bar imports down 32.1 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 10,757 mt in September 2019, down 32.1 percent from August but up 3.9 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $14.9 million in September 2019, compared to $21.5 million in the previous month and $15.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cold finished bar from Germany in September, with 2,762 mt, compared to 2,971 mt in August and 3,328 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in September include Canada, with 2,006 mt; and China, with 1,630 mt.
