US and Canadian rig counts tumble

According to the latest report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending April 13, the US rig count was 29 from the previous week to 1,950 but was still up 178 year-on-year. The oil rig count fell by seven to 1,322 (up 442 year-on-year), and the gas rig count fell by 23 to 624, and is down 261 year-over-year.

Meanwhile, Canada's rig count declined by 23, following weeks of major drops, to 164 and is down three from the same week a year ago.
