Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 9, the
US rotary rig count increased by 27 to 624 following a four-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by six to 125, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 21 to 498. The overall rig count is now down by 85 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 30 to 230 rigs in the week ending December 9, following a 26-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 56 rigs from the same week a year ago.
