Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending March 14, the US rig count increased by 17 to 1,809, following a 23-rig increase the previous week. The rig count is still up by 33 from 1,776 rigs during the same week a year ago. The oil rig count increased by 18 to 1,461, whereas the gas rig count decreased by one to 344.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count plunged by 65 in the week ending March 14 to reach 522, following a 32-rig decrease the week before. However, the Canadian rig count is still up 19 from 503 rigs during the same week a year ago.
