According to the Spanish steelmakers association UNESID, in March this year Spain’s steel production totaled 967,000 mt, rising by 19.2 percent month on month and dropping by 18.9 percent year on year. In the first quarter of this, the country’s steel production totaled 2.59 million mt, compared to 3.28 million mt recorded in the same quarter of 2025.
In the given month, the Spanish steel industry recycled 800,000 mt of scrap to be used for new steel products, up by nine percent compared to the previous month and down by 14.0 percent year on year. In the first three months of this year, the industry recycled 2.25 million mt of scrap.
