The Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal plans to construct a new continuous hot rolling mill by 2014, the total investments in which will amount to UAH 3.818 billion (approx. $477.25 million).
Accordingly, the new mill will allow Zaporizhstal to increase its output of rolled steel products to five million mt per year, to expand its product range, to produce strips of 1.0-25.4 х 900-1,850 mm and to secure the output of high quality hot rolled products.
Moreover, by 2015 Zaporizhstal plans to complete the installation of its new hot dip galvanizing (HDG) unit with polymer coating with an annual production capacity of 300,000 mt. This will allow Zaporizhstal to expand its product range and to produce cold rolled steel products with zinc protective coating for automobile construction, machine building, electrical and other industries. The installation of the unit is scheduled to commence in 2012, while the investments are estimated at UAH 505 million (approx. $ 63.13 million).
In addition, also in 2015, Zaporizhstal intends to complete the installation of its new double-stand reversible cold rolling mill 1700, which will produce cold rolled strips of 03.-3 mm thickness, for the production of 350,000 mt of cold rolled sheet per year, and 150,000 mt per year of tinplate of 0.18-0.36 mm thickness. The investments in the project are estimated at UAH 450 million (approx. $56.25 million).
In 2012-2015, Zaporizhstal plans to install a polymer coating line with a capacity of 150,000 mt per year, the investments for which will amount to UAH 180 million (approx. $22.5 million).
