Ukraine’s Ilyich to build new converter mill

Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, a subsidiary of Ukraine-based vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest, plans to build a new converter mill with a rolling mill. After the project realization, Ilyich will be able to produce 8.5-9.0 million mt of steel per year.

Also, Ilyich plans to reconstruct its mill 1700 in order to produce competitive products at minimum cost.

In January-July of the current year, Ilyich increased its agglomerate production by 11.4 percent year on year, pig iron output went up by 10.9 percent, its crude steel production rose by 16.1 percent, and its hot rolled steel output increased by 34.8 percent, all compared to January-July 2010.
