According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in October this year Ukrainian steelmakers plan to produce 2.47 million mt of pig iron - up 0.2 percent, 2.89 million mt of crude steel - up 1.4 percent, and 2.53 million mt of finished steel products - up 0.4 percent, all compared with the output volumes planned for September.
Ukraine's production plan for September this year includes the output of 2.465 million mt of pig iron, 2.85 million mt of crude steel and 2.52 million mt of finished steel products.
According to the Metallurgprom data, in September, 28 of Ukraine's 41 blast furnaces are operating, as well as 19 of the country's 21 converters, and 14 of its 42 open hearth furnaces.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in January-August this year Ukraine saw a 30 percent decrease in its finished steel product output to 17.07 million mt, a 35 percent drop in its crude steel production to 18. 94 million mt, and a 31 percent decrease in its pig iron output to 16.67 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
